Aspiring engineer awarded a scholarship for producing a video promoting safer driving standards

DALLAS, TX, September 19, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — The Law Offices of Loncar Lyon Jenkins presented Muhammad Faizan Farhat with its annual $2,500 Distraction-Free Driving PSA Scholarship. Muhammad, a third-year mechatronics engineering student at Kent State University, earned the scholarship by creating a short video that highlighted the possible dangers of driving while distracted by phones, music, or eating.

The two-minute video that Muhammad posted on Vimeo depicts him driving to a friend’s house without paying attention to the road, which results in a car crash. Throughout the drive, he showcases ways one can engage in distracted driving, such as texting, eating, and playing loud music. “In life, we do not get second chances. Put away your phones, do not eat or lower the music, and drive slow,” Muhammad says.

Loncar Lyon Jenkins Want To Reduce Distracted Driving Accidents

The scholarship aims at raising awareness of the dangers of distracted driving, which accounts for around nine percent of all fatal motor vehicle collisions on roads across Texas, according to The National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH, 2022).

“At Loncar Lyon Jenkins, we want to be part of the solution to this tragic problem. By raising awareness through the scholarship and video PSA, we hope to help reduce the number of distracted driving accidents,” the firm said.
