Jason St. Aubin, who has been practicing in the Charlotte area for over 18 years, has joined the Charlotte team and will handle matters in Charlotte and the surrounding counties.
After graduating Charlotte Country Day School, Jason received an undergraduate degree from Duke University. He earned his J.D. cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2005 and quickly returned to North Carolina to work for the Mecklenburg County Public Defender’s Office, where he worked for 17 years. Jason has experience managing his own firm as well as teaching law school classes for 9 years at Charlotte School of Law and assisting with numerous training programs at the UNC School of Government. Currently, Jason coaches trial teams for the University of Illinois College of Law.
Jason has handled all manner of criminal matters including homicide, domestic violence, drug crimes, theft crimes, violent crimes, DWI/DUI, and sexual offenses. He has taken over 30 cases to jury trial and tried many more before a judge. Notably, in 2021, Jason secured the first Not Guilty jury verdict in Mecklenburg County in more than a year as court resumed post-pandemic. Both Jason and his clients were profiled in several installments of the award-winning PBS Frontline and WFAE series “Fractured,” which detailed the struggles that mentally ill people charged with crimes face in the North Carolina justice system. Jason has been named a Top 100 Attorney by The National Trial Lawyers in 2023.
